The Venetian Castle

The Venetian castle was constructed in the early years of the Venetian rule (late 15th, early 16th century). It was probably built in the same place as the old medieval castle. It has towering walls that can be seen from very far away and three gates. One of the gates is decorated with a Venetian lion, symbol of the Venetian Republic. Inside the castle there are the prisons, which are vaulted, low in height and made of stone. There are also ruins of churches and the restored gunpowder room with its huge walls. The view from the Castle is absolutely breathtaking.
