Monastery Kechrovouni is located in Monastiri area and specifically on a steep slope at a height of 650 meters above sea level. It is dedicated to Virgin Mary and was founded by the daughters of a wealthy family of Tinos in the 11th or 12th century.
It is a large building, which includes the main church, smaller chapels, as well as ancillary areas and the monks' cells. Saint Pelagia became a hermit in this monastery, and through her cell she saw the vision of Virgin Mary who led her to find the miraculous Icon. Apart from the cell, you can still see the remarkable icons and relics of 18th and 19th century.
