Folklore Museum of Kimolos

The museum is housed in a two-storey building in the Castle of Kimolos. The purpose of this museum is to preserve and maintain the old folk heritage and the past of Kimolos and hand it over to future generations. It was rebuilt due to a partial collapse and its original shape was restored.

At the ground floor there is a hall and a smaller room. The large hall exhibits various objects based on different occupations. On shelves you will see textiles and embroidery made from the housewives of the past century. There are thematic "corners" for the farmer, the carpenter, the shoemaker, the tailor, etc. Also there are thematic "sections" of various objects such as weighing scales, glass jars, clay jars and bowls and other small items. In a showcase, you can see old dishes and pots made of porcelain. The small room is the "weaving" place, where there are all the items used for weaving.

The first floor has been turned into an old home with its original layout, with the original furnishings of the founder's mother and offers from compatriots. The corridor of this floor is a memorial place to old ship masters, with photographs of sailing ships and various nautical instruments.

The Folklore Museum was completed within a year with the money and personal work of the founder and with the cooperation of some compatriots.
