Archaeological Museum of Sifnos

The Archaeological Museum is housed in a traditional building in the castle. It was restored by the Ministry of Culture in the early 1980s and has been open since 1986.

The collections you can find in the Museum are:

  • Sculptures (tombstone, statues etc.) from the Archaic to the Roman period (6th century BC - 1st century BC)
  • Ceramics from the Castle from the geometric to the Hellenistic period (8th century BC - 2nd century BC)
  • Coins

The most important exhibits are:

  • Palmette finial of a marble funerary stele. 4th century BC
  • Head of a marble female statue. 4th century. B.C.,
  • Head of a marble Kouros. Mid-6th century. B.C.,
  • Marble Ionic capital. 6th century. B.C.,
  • Marble grave stele. Hellenistic period.

  • Winter (November 1st - March 31st): Tuesday, Friday, Sunday 08:00-15:00
  • Summer (April 1st - October 31st): Tuesday - Sunday, 08:00-15:00
