The Ancient House - Hippocrates Garden is located in Mastichari. It is the exact replica of an Ancient Greek house of the 5th century B.C. which revives the ancient Greek way of life. It consists of the house, an arcade and a stone built theater.
The house is a two-storey building, made of stone from the island. It has a wooden ceiling with old tiles and the furniture is handmade replicas of the era. The arcade is constructed based on the standards of the 5th century B.C. Here you will find handmade mosaic floors, frescoes on the walls, works of art and a library. The stone theater can host up to 80 people and is used for performances.
Several seminars are offered daily in the Ancient House: cooking, pottery, philosophy, agriculture, mosaic and pebble. In addition to the seminars, you can also enjoy a walk in the gardens with the fruit trees and vineyards. The area around the Ancient House is a wildlife refuge and a place for biological farming.
