Palataki

Palataki (=Small Palace) belongs to the Mining Group of Thassos and was built in the early 1900s by the Italian architect Pietro Arigoni. It is considered one of the most impressive of all administrative buildings of the Aegean islands. The original owner was German Speidel, owner of the homonymous mining company, which was brought to Thassos to inaugurate the modern period of the island's mining activity. The building originally served as a residence and later it housed the offices of the company. It is located on a hill above the old metal factory in Limenaria.
